Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is performed to remove excess skin from the upper eyelid and the fatty pockets which appear under the eyes. These two procedures (upper and lower blepharoplasty) can be performed separately or together and are often performed in conjunction with other facial rejuvenation surgery such as facelifting when necessary to create an overall more youthful appearance.

Eyelid surgery is popular in both women and men as droopy eyelids give a tired haggard appearance and can also lead to visual obstruction. Eyelid surgery / blepharoplasty is also a procedure which rarely needs to be repeated as the patient continues to age.
